Golden Harvest Industries, David Blandy, Gabrielle de la Puente & Harriet Burns. This exhibition presents the first ten OUTPUT postal exhibitions, together in one location for the first time. In late 2020, after repeated lockdowns and ill-fated ‘re-openings’, it became apparent that in order to continue presenting exhibitions on a regular basis OUTPUT would have to find a new way of connecting with our audience. This led to the idea of a postal exhibition - instead of you coming to the art, we would bring the art to you. In this format, audience members are able to sign up online to receive limited-edition artworks delivered to their door, free of charge. These postal exhibitions are often gateways to larger projects which take place online, in public or in our gallery space. Artists who had been commissioned to create traditional, in-person exhibitions reconfigured their ideas and found new ways of engaging audiences outside of the gallery space. In addition to a print or artwork to decorate your home, postal exhibitions so far have included immersive sound works presented as geo-tagged ‘sound walks’, artworks mounted on the exterior of the gallery building, video pieces, music, table-top role-playing games and social media residencies promoting vital causes.
